14 Jul Are You Insured for a Busy Hurricane Season?
When it’s time to get ready for hurricane season, most people have things like batteries and bottled water at the top of their list. You might want to add Florida auto insurance plus homeowner’s insurance, flood insurance and windstorm insurance for your Palm Beach County home to that list.
There will be plenty of time to stock up on bottled water and other necessities when – and if – a storm looks like it might be headed our way. But by then, it will be too late to do anything about the insurance on your car and Lake Worth, Boynton Beach or Lantana home.
The forecast for this year’s hurricane season calls for a busier than average season, so this is not the year to take chances. (But you’ve probably already figured out that 2020 is not the year to leave anything to chance!)
2020 Hurricane Season Forecast
There are a number of excellent sources you can turn to when it comes to forecasting the 2020 hurricane season – and all of them are in agreement that this will be an above average year in terms of the number and strength of storms that may come our way.
The forecasters at Colorado State University Tropical Weather & Climate Research recently updated their predictions for this year. “We have maintained our above-average seasonal hurricane forecast for the 2020 Atlantic season,” they said, “We anticipate an above-normal probability for major hurricanes making landfall along the continental United States coastline and in the Caribbean.”
Their updated forecast calls for a total of 20 named storms. The predict that nine of them will become hurricanes and three of them will become major hurricanes.
